Project Description

Private developer Berkeley DeVeer has acquired Avant Homes, one of the UK’s leading private residential property developers. Avant Homes operates in the North of England and Scotland and currently has 60 live developments. Berkeley DeVeer currently developed homes across Yorkshire and the North East of England.

What Was Needed

Berkeley DeVeer as Avant Homes began a new housing development in Leeds. This particular development had a unique issue of having a motorway on one side of the houses with a railway track on the other side. To ensure the homes were comfortable for residents and to comply with sound regulations, the decision was made to introduce acoustic fencing to the development.

What We Did

JCW Acoustic Fencing provided 122 metres of JCW Traffic Barrier, at 3 metres high to block out the noise disruption of the motorway and railway. Due to the size of this project and planning conditions, the installation took 15 days to complete.

Traffic Barrier Results

Despite the challenging conditions of this development, the JCW Acoustic Fencing team successfully supplied and installed the Traffic Barrier. The housing development is now compliant with local noise regulations and the Traffic Barrier that was delivered to Avant Homes has been a success, with sound levels significantly lower than the legally accepted level.
