Project Description
Woolley GMC Engineering (WGMC), based in Coventry, is a leading tier-one component supplier and part of The Shield Group. Specialising in machining and assembly for power generation and off-highway industries, WGMC offers state-of-the-art technology and a highly competent engineering team. The facility produces components of varying sizes and complexities, serving a broad range of customers globally.
What Was Needed
Due to its location at the end of an industrial estate next to residential houses, WGMC faced noise complaints from nearby residents. The Coventry Council issued a Noise Abatement Order, requiring WGMC to address the noise pollution issue effectively.
What We Did
JCW Acoustic Fencing was commissioned to supply and install a Reflective Soundscreen Fencing solution. The council recommended a sound screen that was three and a half metres high and 31 metres long. The installation took place from 12th to 15th January 2015. The project involved digging foundations, securing steel posts with postcrete mix, and erecting the Reflective Soundscreen panels.
The Result
The installation of the Reflective Soundscreen fence was completed successfully in four days. The new soundproofing measure significantly reduced noise levels, resolving the complaints and improving the quality of life for the nearby residents. The visually appealing fence blended well with the surroundings, marking another success for JCW Acoustic Supplies.
